Creating an ED Service Guarantee
ED Solutions has assisted a client hospital with development and implementation of a 30 Minute Guarantee in their emergency department. This program guarantees patients will be seen by a physician within 30 minutes of their arrival. A key benefit of this program is improved patient flow to expedite patient arrival to bed and arrival to physician times. In addition, a parallel marketing campaign advertising this program can lead to increased volume and enhance community image.
Prior to program development, our client was compliant with the 30 minute guarantee about 30% of the time. Currently, our client now consistently achieves 90% compliance rates with their 30 minutes guarantee and is preparing to launch a marketing campaign.

ED Solutions Presenting at the 2008 ENA Leadership Conference
Morristown Memorial Hospital Emergency Department in Morristown,
NJ and ED Solutions have been selected to co-present at
the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) 2008 Leadership Conference
held from Feburary 28 - March 2nd.
The poster presentation is entitled "The Impact of Length of Stay on ED Nurse Staffing"
and illustrates a joint finding on how changes in ED length of stay correlate with
the necessary level of nursing staffing in the ED.
Using ED Solutions' ED Nurse Staffing Model, the appropriate number
of nursing staff was calculated. Collaborating with Carol Jones, RN,
the Manager of the Emergency Department and Joanne Ellis, RN, the Nursing Scheduler,
ED Solutions was able to identify the salary savings that would result
if turnaround times were lowered. This model was helpful in supporting
the addition of ED nursing staff for the operating budget and assessing
potential opportunities for quantifying how much expenses could
be reduced if patient throughput was improved. You can learn more
about the 2008 ENA Leadership Conference by going to the ENA website at:
